Tanglewood Christian Camp
The Tanglewood Men's Retreat is held annually at
Tanglewood Christian Camp.
Tanglewood Christian Camp is located about 1 mile west of US77, north of
Giddings and south of Rockdale.
The camp, managed by Johnny Menges, offers five large dormitories with
a total sleeping capacity of 280 men. In addition to the dormitory space, the
camp offers plenty of area for tents and hook-ups for travel trailers and RVs.
The main sessions for the retreat are held in the chapel, which seats over 500.
The chapel includes a large stage along with sound and projection equipment.
Kitchen and dining hall accomodations allow over 300 campers to enjoy
meals together at the same time.
With the usually pleasant weather, the retreat workshops are usually conducted
in gazebos that are available throughout the camp grounds. Two campfire areas
provide space for gathering and fellowship. The volleyball, basketball, and
baseball playing areas are another great place to fellowship with others.
Each year the camp hosts summer camps and mid-winter retreats for young people
ages 8-18. The camp is also the site for a variety of week-end retreats for
churches, women's retreats and the annual Tanglewood Men's Retreat.
